Hello! I am a Nottingham based potter, hopefully you know that by now... what you might not know about me is that I am also a mum of two, and ex primary school teacher. (I know right?)
My goal with Craft Explorers Summer School is to introduce children to a new skill each week. Children will explore new materials, artists and processes whilst designing a final piece, teaching them research and investigation skills alongside the skills based craft activity they will use to bring their artwork to life at the end of the session!
Most importantly, I want our children to get messy, make friends and have FUN!

30th July
Pottery & Painting week
We will play games with clay, building our favorite characters! We will then learn how to make a pinch pot before having a painting session to design the surface of our pot. The session will end with painting our chosen design onto our pot, ready for them to be fired glazed and returned to the studio for collection.
13th August
Mosaic & Collage week
We will be exploring themes of community this week, looking at collage and mosaic artists and colour. We will create a collage piece of art around what makes our community special, ready to choose our colours and designs for a mosaic final piece. Children can leave with this on the day.
20th August
Metal & Beading week
This session is lead by local Jewellery artist Amber Cooper Green, who will guide children through the wax casting technique. Children will be shown examples of cast works, before being given their own wax sheet to mark make and create their work, for Amber to cast in her studio and post to children in a few weeks.
Children will also be making a beaded element to attach their metal piece to.
27th August
Self Portrait & Print week
This week is all about us! We will find out what we all think is special about ourselves and look at different portrait artists for inspiration! We will then have a range of materials for children to choose from to experiment with, including paper making, paints, collage and some print techniques. Children will then be able to choose from the materials we have investigated to mix mediums and create their masterpieces!
Sessions are 3 hours long, £20 per child per session.
There is an option to choose AM 9:00-12:00 or PM 12:30-3:30
Children can be dropped off (Think of those delicious child free hours in the middle of the summer hols!) with the knowledge I am an ex primary school teacher, fully DBS and first aid trained.
